BLADENBORO, NC (AP) -- An attorney representing the family of a Bladen County teenager says they have hired an independent investigator to look into his death after an autopsy report said he died because of hanging.
Attorney Allen Rogers said Thursday the family is questioning the autopsy report and is considering an independent autopsy.
Area media outlets report 17-year-old Lennon Lacy was found hanging from a swing set at a Bladenboro playground on Aug. 29. The medical examiner's report says Lacy died from asphyxia due to hanging and says there was no indication of foul play.
Rogers said the family thinks there was a rush to determine a cause of death.
District Attorney Jon David has said he couldn't comment because the investigation is continuing, He couldn't be reached for additional comment on Thursday.
